I liked the design of the Apple iPad case, but didn’t like how it made it hard to get at all the controls. The Bookstand addresses this very nicely by holding your iPad securely in place, protecting the corners where it’s most likely to get bumped anyway, and leaving great access to all the controls. It is a bit minimalist; if you are looking for “iPad armor,” this is not it.
I have been using mine daily, including in and out of my shoulder bag, on airplanes, etc, for a couple weeks. I have not had any ungluing problems yet. I actually like the microfiber-covered molded plastic back and find it to be quite solid-feeling. The cover is a different story, and definitely feels flimsy and cheap. That said, it does work, both in terms of providing basic protection for the screen when closed and also as a stand when flipped back. I can’t imagine it “collapsing” when you try to type on it or use it as a stand, as some other reviewers report, at least not if you tuck in the leather tab as instructed (which is a little bit of a pain, but not ridiculously bad).
Overall, the Bookstand still serves all the purposes I bought it for — a little protection, access to controls, improved grip, and a “stand” function. The construction should be better for the price, but any deficiencies haven’t yet gotten in the way of these main features for me. I’ll keep my eye out for someone else making a better-built case with the same design, but as far as I can tell, the Bookstand is it for now.

Product is great for the iPad.
Great case especially good for working professionals that fits in with our normal working attire. As already announced everywhere else on the web, the quality and build for the case is of the highest grade and you easily can see great care was put into the production and design of the case (special mention to beautiful felt interior of the case). I especially like how the iPad slips right into the case resulting in the iPad fitting just right tightly and firmly in place, rather than bands of rubber on each corner that is commonly seen in flip book cover case currently on the market.
Before getting this case i was afraid of bringing my iPad along with me when going out for meetings, but with this case you get a great feeling of security in that if you drop the ipad, the case will protect it. Not to mention also that this case draws less attention to your iPad from would be theives or bosses/chairman in meetings from which if you had brought the iPad by it self, it makes you look like you’re bringing a toy to work when you’re suppose to be serious and professional. It also serves as a disguise from irritating colleagues whom either want to have a go at your iPad all day long or misguided comments from strangers in the office lift that you have wasted your money purchasing a product which has no real use whilst pointing out your superior laptop you have slung over your other shoulder.
For younger owners of the iPad whom prefer more visual stimuli for their products, perhaps this would not be the case to go for. However, i would highly recommended this for working professionals.

This cost half of what the simple Apple wraparound (black) case cost. It is incredible for the cost.
It operates like a simple folio, has no extra pockets, and simply covers the front and back like a thick dustjacket, while making your iPad much easier to hold. Unlike the Apple case, it doesn’t pickup dirt / hair / scratches at a moments notice either. Looks reasonably professional, and is relatively thin.
One down side: your iPad tends to hang about half an inch outside of the folio when closed. It is still covered by the inch or so of material that holds the iPad in.
One more down side: it doesn’t prop open to hold the iPad for movie viewing, but I usually just prop a book / magazine / fork or whatever is at hand when I need to.

This product is well worth the money. I glued a little Velcro tab under the arm that forms the stand to keep it from flopping. On one side a smidgen of the screen is cut off but not a big deal. I would recommend this product for it’s price and convenience of use. I actually love it!

The case was delivered in time and nothing was missing. I was glad to see that the item was conform to the description on Amazon.
Of course, for 20 bucks, I was not expecting to get anything fancy and I have to admit that I’m pretty surprised of the quality of this case when you take its price into consideration: the different leather (or leather-like) parts are sewed and not glued, which is a good guarantee that this item should last.
For a first purchase on Amazon, I’m really satisfied!

When I purchased my iPad, I knew I wanted to use a case. Apple offered one, and I got it, but it was rather cheap looking, attracted grime, and I looked further till I found Griffin Technology’s attractive new Elan Passport Folio Case. Fit and finish were perfect. The stitching on it, added a look of fine leather bound and it’s it’s closure tab keeps it shut.
The Elan Case comes in Black and Ecru, a vanilla color. I have the black, and really like it’s feel in my hands, it opens easily, revealing a microsuede interior and slits for cards, no room for a pen. The padded exterior is nice to the touch, looks far more expensive than it’s cost of .99. I wish it could hold up the iPad for reading or typing the way the Apple case did, that’s my only suggestion for improvement.

This is really fantastic value for simulation very-real looking leather in a super-slim iPad folio case. The styling is good, the feel is really nice in the hands, and it is absolutely the thinnest, slimmest iPad portfolio I have been able to find that looks decent and professional. I have tried a lot of iPad cases, many of them triple what this cost, and none of them look nor feel as nice. I have to say that this doesn’t offer a tremendous amount of protection, but that is not why I purchased it.
